WiMAX internet access in Kuala Lumpur

Filed under Technology by on . Comment#

The term WiMAX is still new to me and also to my fellow Malaysians. I don’t know when was the first time you heard about this jargon. Now people in Kuala Lumpur can enjoy this technology too.

What does WiMAX mean? WiMAX is actually the technology to send data via fast and efficient wireless network. This situation seems to be similar with television or radio broadcasting. Luckily we can use this technology to access the internet or precisely the web.

If you’ve used Wi-Fi to access internet before, this WiMAX technology will help you to surf the internet smoothly, more comfortable because the WiMAX range is hundreds of times much longer than WiFi and also stable.

In Malaysia, WiMAX is still new and the areas covered by this technology are currently limited to Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru. But due to the encouraging responses from the customers, I believe this WiMAX internet will soon available in other major cities in Malaysia.

One of the companies that provide this excellent service Packet One Network Sdn Bhd or P1 (pronounced P One).

I was surprised with the new and tiny USB Wiggy Modem which is a bit larger than a USB flash drive or pendrive.

With the size advantage, this modem is really portable and convenient and you can use on your desktop PC or laptop or netbook.

If you just want to use the modem at home maybe you can try a bit cheaper package at RM49 but with a bigger modem but the size is still small and easily fit on your palm.

I still don’t use this WiMAX but I’m looking forward to using it. Currently I still satisfied with the fixed line internet.

If you want to read the WiMAX reviews from those who are using it maybe you can go to this blogs; Vincent Teoh and Prasy’s Blog. The Prasy’s blog gives reviews about the tiny Wiggy modem.
