How do you pay when it comes to shopping online? The easiest and the most convenient way is probably by using your credit card.
Maybe you want to buy or purchase online but don’t have the credit card but the seller may not accept other payment methods than this credit card payment. And you also don’t have any credit card as your financial status, your job etc doesn’t allow you to apply one.
However in Malaysia, there is a solution for this; use Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card. Before I moved to my present house in Kuala Lumpur, I lived in Johor Bahru and I applied the debit card there.
I had to pay RM25 and wait around 1-2 weeks to get the card. The debit card statement showing where all your money has been spent will be mailed to your address each and every month.

Let’s say you want to buy a RM50 product online, you need to add another RM50(better more than that) into the debit card account(you can do this at Public Bank ATMs). Remember that you need to maintain RM25 balance in your account.
Now you can differentiate between a credit card and the debit card. With debit card, you use your own money, not to borrow other people (the bank) money.
So far, I’ve used my Malaysia Public Bank Debit Card to make online purchase from Clickbank.com (actually I’ve registered this debit card with my PayPal account), Clickbank accepted the payment from the PayPal but my PayPal account had no money so the amount was deducted from my debit card account by PayPal depending the foreign exchange rate.
I’ve also made other payments from other sites and successfully did it.
I believe this is one of the few debit cards in Malaysia you can use for online payment but maybe not all sites accept this debit card (Public Bank).

You don’t need to have any account with Public Bank prior to applying this debit card. Once approved and you get the card, the no in front of the card is actually your account no and you can top up your card at any Public Bank deposit machine. When applying this card, you need to pay at least RM25.
hi, i have been used public bank debit card for almost one year. since then,i’ve used to verified my paypal account,buy a guitar tab online (with us dollar currency) and purchased cinema ticket few times w/o queing ^_^
the public bank makes very hard for small scale buyer like me =.=
because it will charge RM2 every transaction you made. i.e for cinema ticket I purchased will add +RM2. so better I bought it for many people.that’s for the local business
if you purchase item from ebay or international business through paypal, and it requires you to purchase with foreign currency, it will added 3% of the price of your item and +RM2 again for using the debit card.
public bank debit card is not that bad though because of their customer service and accurate time sending our bank statement every month.
