Cold Storage Supermarket at Wangsa Walk Mall

Cold Storage has been the well established company since 1932 and the latest one in Kuala Lumpur is at Wangsa Walk Mall, Wangsa Maju.

Although Wangsa Walk Mall was open on August 28 2009, this Cold Storage Supermarket started their business later on September 16 2009. The fact is that date is the Malaysia Day where Malaya, Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak united to form a country called Malaysia in 1963. But Singapore was out 2 years later.

Compared to nearby Carrefour Wangsa Maju Hypermarket, Cold Storage is really much smaller but they have something that are not offered at Carrefour although their prices are bit more expensive.

The products sold are well arranged on the gondolas with nice, tidy and luxury look. Because the building is so new, you will feel quite comfortable shopping here. I heard a few customers complaining and comparing the prices among themselves and they compared with the products sold at nearby hypermarket.

One thing that startled me was the exotic fruit that I’ve never seen before just like this Yellow Squash which is sold RM20 per kg.

There are a few other exotic fruits and vegetables. The Yellow Squash above is usually considered vegetable in cooking although technically it’s fruit.

Here at Cold Storage you can buy the fresh meat, chicken and fish. One more thing is the ‘real fresh from the sea’ like this lobster but I forgot the price.

There were large cockles sold (not shown here) that have the size of golf ball. I myself had the experience eating the big cockles but the size is not as big with the ones sold here. However the flesh or meat from the big cockles is not tender.

If you go to Wangsa Walk Mall, maybe you want to pay a brief visit to this supermarket for ‘window shopping’ or shopping spree.
