Central Market in Kuala Lumpur is famous for handicrafts since April 1986. Although the official name is Cultural Bazaar or Pasar Seni, the building is still called Central Market by most Kuala Lumpur city folk.

Even the nickname of that building is well known as CM (the abbreviation of Central Market).
Actually Central Market was a wet market selling meat, seafood, vegetables and the like.
In the year 1936, the Central Market acquired its today’s art deco style and it was RH Seed, the town engineer of that time who drew that expansion plan for Central Market building.
Stepped arch and square motif on the walls were among the new features after that expansion plan.
If you go to CM today, you’ll be amazed with the handicrafts sold here.
