Update: This is an old article about Puduraya..this building is now renamed as Pudu Sentral

Puduraya is an old bus terminal in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Puduraya is actually the short form of ‘Hentian Pudu Raya’ in Malay and  Pudu is the place name where this building is located while the word ‘Raya’ means big or large.

However as the development of Kuala Lumpur seems to be progressive, this Puduraya building is no longer looks big as it was. The government of Malaysia decided to renovate this bus terminal to make it look more modern and comfortable to public.

Years before if you wanted to go to northern part of Peninsular Malaysia, you could buy the bus ticket here and also take the bus here. Today you can still buy the tickets to the destinations like Kedah, Penang and Perlis but maybe you need to go to Hentian Duta Bus Terminal to take the bus.

So when you buy the bus ticket here make sure you ask the counter where exactly you need to take the bus. Just ask and you can save your time, money and energy.

If you want to go to Johor, Negri Sembilan and Malacca in the south you can get the bus at this Puduraya. The same goes for destinations in Pahang like Kuantan, Raub and Kuala Lipis but there is a special bus terminal to Pahang at Jalan Pekeliling called Pekeliling Bus Terminal.

The Puduraya is still relevant today and if you go there you’ll see how busy it is even not on weekends.
