It is no doubt that Bukit Bintang is one of the most popular places in Kuala Lumpur. This place is not really far from Pudu Raya Bus Terminal and I myself have been there by walking along Jalan Raja chulan.
I thought Bukit Bintang was quite near when I used that mode of ‘transportation’. But luckily I arrived there around 15 to 20 minutes of walking and if you are not ready to walk there you’d better get a taxi.
The alternative way you can go there if you’re not using a taxi or bus is by using the Monorail system. When I was still a secondary school student back in 1996, I used to hang out at Sungei Wang Plaza and Lot 10 Shopping Centre and both of them are still here today in Bukit Bintang.
Recently I went there for the first time after more than 10 years residing in Johor Bahru, Johor and I found that the environment there is really different from what it was 10 years ago.

Literally the word Sungei Wang means ‘River Money’ and I don’t know whether this river name is existed or not somewhere around the globe. The word ‘sungei’ probably the old spelling of ‘sungai’ used in standard national language of Malaysia today.
This shopping complex was open in 1977 and this means 2 years before I was born. Today I can still see the same fountain in front of Sungei Wang Plaza which I saw when I was in secondary school.
Inside the building there is no significant different with other shopping centres and it seems here you can drink and chit chat and of course for shopping.

But for sure the name Sungei Wang Plaza will continue to be among popular shopping centres in Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur and generally in Malaysia.
